Research and Development for utilizing
commersializing advanced environmental Ships
In recent years, the world's industrial society, including the maritime industry, has entered a period of major transformation in response to the global warming problem and the rapid progress of digital technology, and in particular, the carbon-zero movement is accelerating rapidly.
On the other hand, such changes provide opportunities to open up new industrial horizons and at the same time are great opportunities to transform the structure within the industry.
The Japan’s shipbuilding industry has been making every effort to develop and supply ships with excellent energy-saving performance, but it is even more important to anticipate such rapid changes in the social environment.
Against this background, the "Planning and Design Center for Greener Ships (GSC)" continuously plans and disseminates cutting-edge ships beyond the boundaries of individual companies. It was established in October 2020 according to the calling of the major Japanese shipbuilding companies and parties as a core organization for doing so.
GSC will bring the wisdom of participating members to develop advanced environmental performance technology that responds to the tightening of medium- to long-term environmental regulations, and contribute to the development of the Japan’s shipbuilding industry by promoting the commercialization of advanced environmental performance vessels toward the zero-carbon era.
